It was just another day in early summer. The time was about four in the afternoon. The professor of business, Grey Lawe, drove his Ford F150 down the road, holding the steering wheel with one hand and a smoothie in the other. He kept his eyes fixed firmly on the road ahead, not looking as he raised the straw to his lips and sucked in the fruity goodness that was his drink. It would also be his dinner. If he didn't work out well, he didn't eat much.
A small ranch home in West Point had been all he could reasonably afford and sustain in Silverdale. It was a three bedroom with two baths, so it was far more room than he needed. One room was set up for Iris and the other for Blue, though neither were very personalized. The kids barely stayed inside when they came for the summer.
They'd be here in the coming weeks. Grey still taught summer classes, but he'd hire a high schooler or even a community college student to watch the kids for him. If possible, he'd get his usual. She always did a great job, and the kids loved her.
He was thinking about all that business when an animal cross the road in front of him. Though he was still looking, he wasn't really seeing, as the drive from work to home was second nature for him. Instinct kicked in, and whatever the furry thing that flashed before him was was too big to plow through. He turned the wheel, cutting the truck off the road and into the woods, slamming his foot on the break at the same time.
The truck roared indignantly and the tires screeched. It flew down the embankment towards some trees, but stopped before hitting.
In fact, all at once, everything stopped--except for the slamming of Grey's heart in his ears. He stared in front of him for a long, shocked minute.

Dallas usually tried to reserve his running time for the evenings when it was dark, but he was in a mood and wanted to let off some steam. Unfortunately, he was also distracted with his own thoughts and hadn't properly paid attention as he ran across the road in his wolf form. He heard the squeal of the tires from the truck as it lost control and flew off the road.
"Oh FU-" Dallas thought. He hesitated for a moment, hidden in a group of trees on the opposite side of the street. Luckily, due to the fact that it was still day, Dallas had the forethought to take his clothes and phone with him, having been carrying them in a bag that he held in his teeth. Dallas was reckless but he had moments where he thought things through.
He hurried to shift back into a human and got dressed before rushing back across the street, this time looking properly for cars and ran down the embankment towards the truck.
"Hey man, are you okay?" He asked, knocking on the man's window as he peered in to try to see any damage. He wasn't sure how well the guy could even hear him through the window.

Grey jumped when someone was suddenly knocking on his window. If it was night he would not have opened that door. As it was, he was able to look out and see a Dallas Navarro. He vaguely knew him as a student as SCC who had been flagged by the staff as a member of the West Point gang. They'd been charged to be extra intentional with those boys, hoping to change their ways.
The man took an extra moment to sigh, thankful he hadn't hit anything with his truck. He'd need a tow, but otherwise he should be able to get right back on the road and push forward.
"Uh, yeah, hold on." He said with the window still closed before pushing the door open. He frowned and stepped out, eyes immediately moving to inspect the car.
"I don't know what happened..."

Dallas didn't recognize the man behind the wheel, having paid little attention to the Professors at the college so far, especially those he didn't have classes with.
He took a step back as the man opened the door so that he wasn't in the way and he too took a closer look at the truck to check for damage. "I didn't notice anything until I heard the screech of the tires." Dallas said. It wasn't a lie, even if it wasn't the whole truth.
"I could help with any repairs though, I'm a mechanic at the auto shop up the street." He said.

Grey still felt a little foggy, mostly because his mind couldn't compute what his eyes thought they saw. He looked to the young man and nodded numbly.
"That...would be great." He raised a hand to scratch the back of his head, frowning. "I'm...tired, I guess. And now I'll have to call AAA to get out of this ditch." He sighed and fished into his pocket for his phone.

"Nah! We could totally push this out ourselves!" Dallas said, perhaps a bit cockily. "We just need a bit of leverage to get under the tires so you don't spin out."
Without waiting for the man to answer, Dallas moved towards the trees that the car had just missed and found a few good sized logs that would work. He moved back towards the car and started to dig a little in order to maneuver the logs under the tires just a bit.
